I really enjoyed this night of music. Yeah Phil's good and yeah Bob's good and yeah Warren's good and the Beat is good. But the Drums is one of the best ever and Bertha is rippin and I was completly lost once or maybe three times and st. steven is as of no yesterday and the smoke don't rise in the JPJ ever, and I had fun blowing it up there and I fully would Love It If The Dead WOULD COME BACK HERE AND TEAR ME A NEW HEAD SOCKETTTTTT!!!!!!!!! HHHHEEEELL YYYEEEAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!

Great recording. I am going to the NY and NJ shows and need to arrange for someone to watch my kids. Does the band actually start at 7:30 or do they start much later? Any help would be appreciated.

Caught the JPJ show with some old friends from Cville and the vibe for me was great. Last saw the Bob with Keller Williams in Cville a few years back, and it is unfair to compare this band without Jerry. I thought about it a lot--watching Warren on stage instead of Jerry--but I now just want to enjoy the music this band wants to play. Lots of friendship and warmth inside the arena with people I had never before met. Highlights for me were Bertha, Drums and St. Stephen-The Eleven. Wish it could go on forever.

Subject: The Dead rock, but this post isn't about them...
as dead4head said, I just have to get this off my chesticles. The 20 minute Cumberland Blues from Gathering of the Vibes is just fine. I would actually encourage people who read these posts to check out that song and show. You make it sound as if Phil stopped everything and gave a lecture onstage to the band. I was at the show to and thoroughly enjoyed it. There was nothing unprofesional about any of the stellar musicianship on display that night.

Subject: jackie green????
slavetothegroove writes "I am looking forward to having Phil & friends back with Jackie Greene. The bast jamband music being made these days is by the current Phil & Friends lineup."

Phils lineup, the one that includes jackie "greg brady" green was one of phils WORST lineups he ever put together. the last i saw this lineup was at gathering of the vibes, and after phil tried to teach them how to play cumberland for 20 min on stage (very unprofessional and by far the worst musical performance i ever herd in my life) i swore off phil till he got back with the dead or reformed the PLQ. it should tell you something about a band when they cant sell out a place like nokia (every show was onsale at the door btw) it's just my opinion and if you dont like it then i'm sorry. i know 17 year olds that can play a dead song with more feeling and WAY more focused jamming then jackie "greg brady" green could ever dream of.

had to get that off my chest. this is a good show and worth the download. it sounds very nice and as the tour goes on the band is finding their groove. the highlight so far has to be the first set from 4/18 (streamed live on sirus)
thanks to the tapers for doing an amazing job at recording and posting the shows so fast.
to all that are on the road be safe and have a good show. tapers are the best, thank you

THIS is Phil's new band. Jackie dayz are gone and nothing's gonna bring em back. THIS band is the best band Phil's been in since 2006, hands down. while I could definitely appreciate the Americana/Workingman's Dead grrove of last PLF lineup it is not nearly the MONSTER that this band is.

thanks tapers!!!!!

All the songs are now here. Set -1 is in proper order one song at a time. Set -2, Playin>Crazy Fingers are together. D/S are together. St.Stephen> The Eleven are together. Foolish Heart and Phil Rap are together.
And yes $100 is a bit steep but you do get 3-3 1/2 hours of different music each night. Not the same songs each night in an hour and a half to 2 hour show many bands do for $50-$60. And this is not the Grateful Dead but The Dead.

Subject: Wow! Crazy Fingers and St. Stephen
The guitar work from about the 20 min mark into the Playin'>Crazy track and running approx 7 mins is just stellar. The sound and tone sounds amazingly Jerry-esque.

And that's as primal a St. Stephen as any iteration of the Dead has played in a loooooong time. (At least in the first few minutes anyway.) Don't get me wrong. I loves me some laid back, tightly played '77 St. Stephen, but I prefer the edgier, gettin' after it versions of the Primal years.

I got in on the opener in G'boro and I can't wait until my next (and only other) show in Denver on May 7. Hold that ticket Tony!

Oh man, they are just on FIRE. Coming home from work, finding a show from the day before. Dancing around my house. Counting the days till I go to a show. In 2009, unbelievable.

THANK you to the tapers (can we still call you that if there is no tape involved anymore!)

How amazing that this exists for us to bask in the music as Jerry would have wanted us to.

Hell Yeah the Band is almost there. Sounds like a big step forward in playing since the 4/12/09 show. Bobby's guitar playing is pretty tight for this show. It seems like each show he is getting back to that form. The St. Stephen> the Eleven is hot, power packed jammin'. The Doin that Rag smokes. HOT!Hot Hot!
I digging IT!!
Awesome sound quality, Great recording. Sounds like a FOB. Thanks Mr.Krall for the taping and fast Upload. Buy that taper a Beer or too!! It also sounds like Warren finally got a Mutron or a good Envelope Filter finally. I hope!

Thanks to all you tapers for posting these shows. It appears this one was posted from the road so special thanks for the effort that takes.

Also had a chance to learn about .flac - very nice. :)

Had tempered expectations of this tour having not seen any iterations of the band post-Jerry.

The show recordings have blown my mind. Far exceeded expectations. I am constantly welling up with tears and laughing like a goofy kid as I listen. It's just how it was in the old days.

I have tix for Buffalo and am thinking hard about more shows.

The band has evolved beautifully - and the new guys fit right in in carrying on the legacy.

Sure I miss Jerry and Brent - but Warren blends brilliant homage to Jerry while bringing his own virutosity to the mix -and Jeff's playing is awesome - and if that is him picking those "Brentish" harmonies - it's wonderful.

I feel bad for all those folks pre and mid tour who chose to hate and bitch and look for what wasn't working rather than what is.

I got Elton John and Billy Joel and U2 charging $259 for tix in my area - this will be the best $100 I've spent in a long time!

Thanks to the band for this - and tapers - bless you and keep 'em coming!!!

The Boys are surely on fire, so many thanks for helping the masses & me to experience it.
Hope the small missing piece is upped soon. :)

For those unfamiliar with the FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) files already here, try Foobar (or another free player like it) & an internet search ;) It'll even sound better, I promise.

I know how hard it is to work from the road, especially trying like a madman to get the show up and available to the rest of us. The recording is a keeper, thanks for the great work.
Now the critical side. as mentioned, there is some trouble with this listing. it seems as of tonight, Archive is aware, and possibly Robert as well. When we get is all figured out, it is very worth the D/L! Just a warning to all scrambling to hear a Stephen/Eleven, it is not here (yet :) )
5+ for the speed to which this available, 4+ for the recording.

I parse old shows to a fault, but have no bones about what's going on this tour. Band is already playing a wide set of tunes in just 3 shows - and they're already sounding tighter than the first night.

So long as this edition is not set against anything but itself, good times will be had by all..

Looking forward to the King of All Shows - MSG
